Event Materials
Event design creates connection. I create everything from participant t-shirts to gala invitations—building excitement, driving attendance, reinforcing purpose, and leaving a lasting impact.
Penn Cove Musselfest

Over eight consecutive years, I led design and art direction for Penn Cove Musselfest, a festival celebrating community, seafood, and the spirit of Coupeville, Washington. Each season featured a new illustrated mermaid, evolving the campaign’s visual story while keeping it recognizable and beloved. Over time, the posters became collector’s items—and attendees began cosplaying as the mermaids themselves.
The brand extended across posters, rack cards, postcards, signage, t-shirts, and digital displays on ferries, creating a unified and playful presence throughout the waterfront festival. This long-running collaboration demonstrates how consistent storytelling and visual iteration can transform an event into a community tradition.

As lead designer and art director for Overlake’s annual Bandage Ball gala, I developed and art directed yearly campaign identities that balanced warmth, elegance, and the hospital’s mission of compassionate care. Each featured fresh key art that captured the event’s spirit while maintaining a consistent sense of optimism and community. The campaigns spanned 60+ digital and digital pieces—from invitations and programs to signage, social media, and motion graphics—creating a cohesive donor experience from first impression to event night.
The campaigns earned both an Aster Gold Award and a Healthcare Advertising Silver Award for special event promotion and contributed to more than $4 million raised over three years to support lifesaving care.

The challenge:
Develop event-materials systems for multiple annual gatherings and community events—each with different audiences and formats—while maintaining visual consistency under United Way’s brand.
My solution:
For years, I led design for 50+ print and digital pieces per event—from invitations and programs to apparel, web, and virtual assets—using bold color, approachable typography, and clear storytelling to convey United Way’s message of community connection and shared impact. The refreshed branding increased annual breakfast attendance by 400% and annual dinner participation by nearly 250%, strengthening community engagement and donor support.
