Event Materials & Systems
Event design creates connection. I design cohesive event materials and systems—from participant apparel to gala invitations and event presentations—that build anticipation, drive attendance, and create a unified, memorable experience.

As lead designer and art director for Overlake’s annual Bandage Ball gala, I led the creation and evolution of annual campaign identities that balanced warmth, elegance, and the hospital’s mission of compassionate care. My work included developing original key art, art directing motion graphics, and expanding each concept into cohesive systems across print, digital, and event materials.
Over three years, I designed and art directed more than 60 pieces—from invitations and programs to signage, social media assets, and motion graphics—creating a consistent donor experience from first impression through event night.
The campaigns earned an Aster Gold Award and a Healthcare Advertising Silver Award for special event promotion, and contributed to more than $4 million raised in support of lifesaving care.

The challenge:
Design scalable event systems for multiple annual gatherings and community events—each serving different audiences and formats—while maintaining brand consistency. During COVID, this also required rapidly transforming in-person events into United Way’s first fully virtual, live-streamed experience.
My solution:
I developed cohesive event systems using bold color, approachable typography, and clear storytelling to reinforce United Way’s message of community connection and shared impact across physical and digital environments.
The refreshed branding for the annual breakfast increased attendance by 400% and dinner participation grew by nearly 250%, strengthening donor and community engagement.
When COVID required a rapid pivot, I art directed and co-produced United Way’s first fully online event series, supporting run-of-show planning and live-stream execution to translate the in-person experience into a cohesive virtual broadcast.
Penn Cove Musselfest

Over eight consecutive years, I led design and art direction for Penn Cove Musselfest, a festival celebrating community, seafood, and the spirit of Coupeville, Washington. Each season introduced a new illustrated mermaid, evolving the campaign’s visual story while keeping it recognizable and beloved. The posters became collector’s items, with attendees even cosplaying as the mermaids themselves.
The brand system extended across posters, rack cards, postcards, signage, t-shirts, and ferry displays, creating a unified and playful presence throughout the waterfront festival.
This long-running collaboration shows how consistent storytelling and visual iteration can turn an annual event into a lasting community tradition.
